North Royalton Police
July 21 – Officers responded to a report of a shirtless male attempting to break into cars on Pineforest Drive at 8:05 p.m. A male, Brandon Kalbrunner, was found squatting between two cars and closing the door of a vehicle, which was found to belong to another resident. While an officer went to talk to the resident, Kalbrunner ran away from two other officers and went through the woods and came out onto State Road. Kalbrunner climbed over two fences during the chase but eventually gave up. He was charged with attempted theft of a vehicle, obstructing official business, criminal trespass and failure to comply. Witnesses reported seeing the man try to enter vehicles.
July 30 – A male reported another male slapped his wife on the butt at a Royalton Road business and left going eastbound around 12:45 a.m. The vehicle could not be located.
July 26 – A man who had previously been kicked out of a Royalton Road bar had returned and was trying to fight employees around 1:45 p.m. The man was found in a parking lot across the street near his Deer Creek Drive residence stumbling and falling against garage doors. Erik England, 29, was arrested and charged with trespassing and disorderly conduct.
July 26 – An officer saw a vehicle that nearly caused an accident on Royalton Road and then stayed in place instead of turning around at 1:40 p.m. The vehicle was stopped and the driver, Mary Cipolla, 61, of Broadview Heights, was reportedly slurring her words and was arrested for OVI after failing a sobriety test. A crack pipe and a bindle of what was believed to be cocaine was allegedly found in the vehicle. Charges were pending the results of a urine test, but she was cited for possession of paraphernalia and permitting drug abuse.
July 24 – An employee at a Royalton Road store found a purse at the business. No identification was found; in the rear pocket, a total of 80 $100 bills were located. The purse was placed into an evidence locker for safekeeping.
July 23 – Someone took a license plate off his motorcycle while it was parked on Pineforest Drive. It appears the motorcycle’s plate was recently removed with a drill or some other tool.
July 22 – An intoxicated male tried to punch one vehicle and kick another on Deer Creek Drive around 2 a.m . The male, Eric Ambler, was located and handcuffed by an officer. He reportedly tried to answer questions in Spanish and was so intoxicated he needed assistance getting into the cruiser. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and held in jail until he sobered up.
July 22 – An officer saw a vehicle run a red light on State Road at the post office around 11 p.m. The vehicle was pulled over on Royalton Road and the driver, Matthew Grillis, was arrested for OVI after failing sobriety tests. He was also cited for a red light violation.
July 22 – Officers went to a residence in the area of West 130th Street and Albion Road for a noise disturbance during a large party around 1:15 a.m. Greg Stamper was cited for noise disturbance and said everyone would be leaving as the party was over.
July 21 – A vehicle seen weaving and nearly hitting pedestrians on State Road was eventually stopped on Valley Parkway around 11:30 p.m. The driver, Antonio Dellavalle, was arrested and charged with OVI, OVI refusal, weaving and marked lanes.
July 20 – A fight was reported in a parking lot on Glenmont Drive just before midnight. It was found he was fighting with his wife, who reportedly had jumped on his back; scratches were found there. The wife also had a bruise on her face. Both Nathan Zalewski and Ashly Zalewski were arrested for domestic violence.
Strongsville Police
July 30 – A guest at a Royalton Road hotel advised a manager that children were crying and yelling in another room. A female fell in the shower, her husband attempted to help her up and their son became upset.
July 29 – A female called a mall restaurant and stated she was going to come with automatic weapons and shoot it up. The manager felt this was a prank call, but was going to keep the restaurant closed for the time being. Mall security would stay in the area.
July 28 – A female reported she found marijuana in her 17-year-old son’s vehicle. The complainant requested that police destroy the marijuana. The woman also said she was about to lose her job due to her son’s juvenile court appointments.
July 28 – A female reported she was scammed out of gift cards. She applied for a quick loan on an Internet pop-up ad. She was contacted via a phone number out of Kansas. She provided her Social Security number and bank account log-in. The complainant took money and sent gift cards to the scammer. The female was advised of the proper steps to protect her identity.
July 28 – A red truck towing a black SUV took out an electrical box at the corner of Boston and Howe roads. The service department set up temporary stop signs.
July 25 – A male with a puppy at the library parking lot was making women and children uncomfortable at the Castle Playground. The male was not cooperative with police. The subject was advised he would be arrested if he trespassed onto playground property.
July 24 – A female requested to speak with an officer regarding her brother, who she said is a drug user. He was using her car and the vehicle had interior damage (torn seats) the complainant believed was a result of her brother’s drug habits. An officer checked on the subject who said he was just hung over. The male stated he gave someone a ride the prior evening and that person ripped the seats.
