What keeps 8,500 pounds of equipment, 65 feet above museum visitors, safe? This ETCP Certified Rigger. “Newton’s Prism,” part of Science Storms at Chicago’s Museum of Science and Industry, allows museum visitors to redirect natural light and create huge rainbows. The exhibit suspends 8,500 pounds of equipment — including prisms, mirrors, a 10-foot wide steel ring, and a 20-foot wide ceiling — up to 65 feet in the air. The installation was supervised by Chicago Scenic Studio’s Andy Lemerand, an ETCP Certified Rigger.
