PERG News BY HARRY C. BOX PERG and AICP continue beneficial dialog Collaboration toward creating a consensus rental agreement improves understanding for all involved THE PRODUCTION EQUIPMENT RENTAL GROUP COUNCIL continues its collaborative work with producers to reach a consensus rental agreement. Throughout the summer, PERG Terms and Conditions committee representatives have been meeting regularly with Association of Independent Commercial Producers (AICP) member companies. The discussions have been very productive and have yielded some positive side benefi ts. Each group has gained better insight and appreciation for how the other side of the business works. After some initial meetings, the PERG committee invited the producers for a behind the scenes tour of Clairmont Camera so they could see fi rst hand how a rental company functions, and the extent of the service that it provides its customers. Producers left the tour with a greater appreciation for the procedures and operational logistics involved in running a top-shelf rental company. The commitment between PERG and AICP member companies to work on this project together was made after the PERG Council hosted a meeting at Cine Gear 2011 in which top leadership from several key commercial production companies and management “ Each group has gained better insight and apprecia-tion for how the other side of the business works. from rental companies across the country came together to discuss common issues. The evening, titled The Producer / Rental House Partnership—a Dialog, was very well attended. The committee is optimistic that a consensus rental agreement document will be ready for review by PLASA and AICP legal counsels and public release very soon. Harry C.
