TSP News | Way-busy, good and bad Selection, Installation, and Use of Single-Conductor Portable Power Feeder Cable Systems for Use at 600 Volts Nominal or Less for the Distribution of Electrical Energy in the Entertainment and Live-Event Industries. This document is about what the lengthy title says it’s about. This part one contains the majority of the recommendations, suitable for most common portable power distribution installations in the United States of America. A separate document is planned for Canada, where the Code requirements and common practice are different. BSR E1.25 -201x , Recommended Basic Conditions For Measuring The Photometric Output of Stage and Studio Luminaires by Measuring Illumination Levels Produced on a Planar Surface , is a revision of the existing ANSI E1.25 – 2006. It’s a short standard, but it’s been reworked to be more noticeably applicable to luminaires with LED sources. BSR E1.32 -201x , Guide for the Inspection of Entertainment Industry Incandescent Lamp Luminaires , provides guidance in the inspection of stage and studio luminaires used in the entertainment industry to evaluate their safety and any needed maintenance. We’ve narrowed the scope to deal only with incandescent lamps operating at line voltage. BSR E1.33 -201x , Entertainment Technology—Extensions to E1.31 for Transport of ANSI E1.20 . This essentially adds RDM functionality to E1.31, the standard for streaming DMX512-type data using parts of the ACN protocol. BSR E1.39 -201x , Entertainment Technology—Selection and Use of Personal Fall Arrest Systems on Portable Structures Used in the Entertainment Industry , establishes minimum requirements for the selection and use of personal fall arrest systems on portable structures, e.g., aluminum truss grids. BSR E1.41 -201x , Recommendations for Measuring and Reporting Photometric Performance Data for Entertainment Luminaires Utilizing Solid State Light Sources , offers recommendations for measuring and reporting the output of LED luminaires used in the live entertainment industry. Our industry needs unusually precise color and color rendering characterization, which this document provides. Current methods for luminaire output measurement—one’s widely used in architectural lighting—assume broad-band emitters, which LEDs are not, and do not deal well with characterizing the saturated colors that LEDs can produce. Last, but certainly not the least in this list is BSR E1.21 -201x , Entertainment Technology—Temporary Ground-Supported Structures Used to Cover the Stage Areas AUTOMATING PERFORMANCE SPACES AROUND THE WORLD FALL 2011 1-866-4VORTEK | SALES@DAKTRONICS.COM | DAKTRONICS.COM/RIGGING 63 PROTOCOL “ “ . . . local municipalities are unlikely to write anything better . . . the adoption of our standards, either verbatim or by reference, will help bring uniformity to the local regulations.
