Alectra Utilities presented United Way with a cheque for more than $385,180 Friday afternoon to help support the communities in Peel and other regions throughout Southern Ontario.

The announcement was made at Alectra’s head office on Friday as part of an official cheque presentation involving several company officials and representatives from United Way’s various branches.

The funds were raised through multiple initiatives Alectra Utilities’ employees held throughout 2017, including the company’s annual charity golf tournament and an employee driven United Way campaign, which generated over $85,000 alone.

Giving back to the communities Alectra serves is an integral part of the company’s values, said Alectra Inc. president Brian Bentz "As we move forward in building our company, supporting charitable organizations like the United Way will continue to be important to our management and staff, Board of Directors and Shareholders," he said during the presentation.

The donation is in addition to a $90,000 donation which was delivered to the Mississauga Food Bank last month, along with $15,000 for Peel Children’s Centre.
