banish the long, dark
winter blues we've all
been suffering for far
too long.
First to step up to the mark with
a spot of retro is Jaeger with its
125 Limited Edition Collection � a
celebration of the British fashion
house's 125-year anniversary.
Jaeger 125 takes its inspiration
directly from original designs
made during the swinging Sixties,
from 1962 to 1965.
In-house designers have delved
into archives and press cuttings
with a simple brief to recreate
classic, iconic Jaeger designs.
They have come up with a final
selection of eight star pieces �
starting with a charming Bardot-
style sleeveless sundress in pleated
Swiss white cotton. A voluminous
pleat front skirt holds a rigid flare,
while a lacy panel that runs the
length of the dress affirms its
girlish appeal.
A black version made in
reassuringly heavy silk boasts
bracelet-length balloon sleeves and
works day and night.
Next, comes a pair of guipure
lace and crochet mini dresses
which originally appeared in a
fashion shoot, circa 1962,
photographed on location in
Greece. The design is in both white
and black. Other dresses come in
the style of an egg shaped silk shift
with neck-tie, decorated in a
graphic floral print lifted from a
1965 swimsuit, and the Shrimpton
� so called because it first appeared
on the British supermodel in a
David Bailey photograph � a black
cocktail dress with flirty fishtail
hemline and fluttery knifepleated
tier, which delicately layers over
the bust.
Finally, with wet-look macs still
reigning the runways, Jaeger
recreates a Sixties original on
lightweight, laminated cotton linen
in glossy black, and another in a
blown-up houndstooth check.
These and every other piece in the
line-up feature a special swing tag
with the original photograph, and
a written synopsis of the garment
that inspired its design.
Selected lines from the Jaeger
125 Limited Edition Collection will
be available in all Jaeger
freestanding stores and Jaeger

mid March.
