Hornets make it a hat-trick
of Challenge Cup victories

WATH Brow Hornets pulled
off another giant killing feat
earlier this month as they
saw off the challenge of
Championship One outfit
London Skolars in the Chal-
lenge Cup.
The two sides clashed in
rugby league's premier cup
competition and the ama-
teurs ran out victorious 14-
12.
This made it a hat-trick of
victories over pro opposition
in the Challenge Cup for the
Hornets.
They have already beaten
Workington Town and Dews-
bury Rams in previous
years.
And their reward was a
trip to Championship side
Featherstone Rovers in the
fourth round on April 5.
It was a disappointment to
the Hornets not to get a Su-
per League tie but joint
coach Ian Rudd was upbeat
about them just getting to
this stage.
"We are very disappointed
that we didn't get a Super
League team but now we just
have to go to Featherstone
and do our best," said Rudd.
"We will just take it as it
comes and go down there
confident and give it our best
shot.
"It is not what we hoped
for but we are still in the
competition and the only
amateur side through.
"We will go there and en-
joy the occasion and see
what happens."
Brow saw off Skolars with
great displays from prop
Dave Pettitt, loose forward
Scott Teare and second row
Micky McAllister, who laid
the foundations for the 14-12
victory.
Teare had two second half
tries to see his side through,
both converted by Ryan
Robb, who also added a
penalty.
