88 LINCOLNSHIRE TODAYDINING OUTSituated in Louth8217s Cornmarket area,
the Masons Arms stands proud
amongst its surroundings. A former
posting inn which dates back to 1725,
the Masons Arms is now a grade II
listed building echoing all the charm
of days gone by.
We recently visited this delightful
restaurant to sample the fine cuisine
on offer.
On arrival we were shown to our
table in the beautifully candlelit
restaurant, the soft music playing
created a relaxing atmosphere for what
we anticipated would be an intimate
dining experience.
The menu is a great example of
diverse choices with something to suit
all tastes, including vegetarian options
and a continuously changing specials
board. As my companion and I
perused the menu, we chose our meals
and eagerly waited. The wine menu is
also a notable addition to any meal
with an extensive selection of white,
red and rose wines as well as
champagnes for those special
occasions. With such an impressive
assortment, I decided to accompany
my meal with the house white.
My companion and I both simply
could not resist the Deep fried brie with
cranberry dip, a new taste experience to
me, it certainly did not disappoint. As
we delved in, the soft, warm melted
cheese deliciously oozed out.
Our main meals arrived afterwards
and my companion chose the Penne
pasta with smoked bacon and
mushrooms in a creamy sauce which
was served with salad and crusty bread
which both looked and tasted rich and
full of flavour. I opted for the Rib eye
steak cooked to my liking of medium-
rare which was served with homemade
crispy onion rings and mushrooms. It
was clear that the chef had taken great
care in preparing our meals as the
presentation is certainly worthy of
mentioning.
To complete our visit we sampled
the indulgent dessert menu. My
partner chose the vanilla ice cream
with rich toffee sauce, a simple yet
refreshing end to an
appetising meal, while I
opted for the chocolate
fudge cake served warm
with ice cream which
was again, presented
beautifully with a taste
to match.
As we enjoyed our
meal and soaked up the
warm and friendly
atmosphere, it was easy
to see why the Masons Arms has been
a popular choice amongst visitors both
today and days long ago. With many a
deal done between local farmers and
merchants here, it is not surprising
that the Masons Arms has a great
reputation for fine dining. This is
continued today with the current
owners, John and Carol Pazdzierski,
offering class and a welcoming
environment to all who frequent this
establishment.
The Masons Arms is without a doubt
a restaurant that must be visited to
