Zoom & inspect image edge
With your image open in your CameraRaw softwareselect
the Zoom Tooland zoom in to around400%.Youshouldnow
be able to see any colourfringes.Hold down the spacebaron your
keyboardand the cursorwill changeinto a small hand symbol.Using
your mouse you can now navigatearoundthe image.Scrollto one of
the high contrastedges of the image.
Adjust red/cyan slider
Now selectthe Lens pane.We will first adjustthe Fix
Red/CyanFringeslider.Chromaticaberrationis normallya
combinationof this and the Blue/Yellowcolourchannels,so it'suseful
to be able to see the colourchannelsin isolation.Youcan do this by
holdingdown Alt while adjustingthe slideras this hides the channel
that isn't being affected.Move the sliderto around-18.
Turn off sharpening
As colourfringingis usuallyprominenton high contrast
edges and sharpeningappliesa halo to those edges, this can
lead to confusionas to where fringingstartsand ends.Selectthe Detail
pane and reducesharpeningto 0. This will enableyou to see the colour
fringingclearlyand to judge the optimumlevel of adjustment. In this
image,it'sobviouson the chimneypot.

selectthe Fix Blue/YellowFringesliderand, holdingdown Alt
again to isolatethe colourchannels, drag the sliderslightlyto the left.
Here I have chosena value of +5.Youcan experimentwith this but
havingzoomedin to the image it shouldbe quite easy to see when you
have completelyremovedthe colourfringing.

If you don't shoot
Raw format then you
can still fix colour
fringingin your JPEG
files,using CS2's
Filters.Go to Filters>
Distort>Lens
Correction. Your
image will open in a
new dialoguebox.
Zoom in, using the
Zoom Tool at the top
left of this dialogue.
Then it's just a case of
adjustingthe Fix Red/Cyan
Fringe and Fix Blue/Yellow
Fringe slidersin the
ChromaticAberrationfield,
