I
T may be your big day but you
can be sure at least one other
person has been anticipating
this day from the moment you
were born your mum.
But being the mother of the
bride is not an easy role not
only is it a big job, but
it's a job that has
changed significantly
over the years.
Once upon a
time, mothers-of-the
-bride did most of the
wedding planning,
and thus got to have
their own dreams
realised.
These days, the
daughter will
probably have her
own vision, which
may differ drastically.
The responsibility of
the mother of the
bride is, first and
foremost, to be a warm
listener, chief
cheerleader, constant
complimenter, and a
source of support.
They should help the
bride find the wedding
dress of her dreams, as
well as other wedding
attire, and help look for wedding
and reception locations,
particularly if the wedding is taking
place in your home town.
The mother of the bride should
arrange to meet the groom's
parents, if they haven't done so
already.
It's best for the mother-of-the
-bride to choose her dress as
soon as possible, before letting the
groom's mother know what she
has picked. If possible, send her a
swatch of the fabric and/or
pictures so that she can look for a
complementary gown.
The mother-of-the-bride ought
to discuss the wedding budget, and
how she may be able to help, with
you and your fianc, and help to
tot up the ideal number of guests.
She should also be able to hlep
draw up the guest list for your
side of the family, and, closer to
the wedding, call any of your
guests who are late to RSVP.
The mother-of-the-bride may
also assist in reserving hotel
rooms for your out-of -town
guests, and possibly others too.
She should also help spread the
word about where the couple has
special day
It's mum's
too...
