A FORMER Cleator Moor
schoolboy, who became a
member of the famous RAF
Dambusters 617 squadron,
was named in the New Year's
Honours List.
Kevin Wright, 40, whose
parents Marcus and Jean still
live at Lansbury Place,
Cleator Moor, was awarded a
commanding-in-chief com-
mendation for his service to
the RAF.
A STONE memorial to five
former Cleator Moor men
killed in an oil rig disaster,
which is currently languish-
ing almost out of public view,
is to be moved to The
Square.
The 3ft high memorial is
barely visible to the passing
public amid a clump of trees
off Jacktrees Road, but is
soon to be moved to a more
prominent site outside the
town library as part of a
400,000 re-development of
The Square.
The five were among over
100 oil workers who perished
in the 10,000 tonne Alexander
Kielland `floating hotel' when
it capsized in a North Sea
storm 14 years ago.

Rome and has been travelling
the world for the past two
decades.
