Crafting a New Program: Metal Fabrication
Join us for these events that offer unique
entertainment while raising money for
Moraine Park student scholarships.
Thanks to the generosity of those who attend
Moraine Park Foundation events, our students
are getting help with financing their education.
In 2008-09, the Crop at the College events have
raised $1,784 for scholarships, while the third
annual Phantom Golf event at Schmitty's Oar
House in Fond du Lac raised just over $1,300.
New this spring, the Phantom Golf event was
also offered in West Bend at the just-opened
Pillars Pub, with additional sponsorship from
the West Bend Lakes Golf Club. That evening
produced an additional $700 for the Foundation.
Phantom Golf is being planned for Beaver Dam,
Fond du Lac and West Bend in March 2010.
Plain old comfort food was taken to the
gourmet extreme during Comfort Food
Gone Wild, presented by the Culinary Arts
program and the Moraine Park Foundation,
and sponsored by Society Insurance. The
annual fundraising dinner was held in April
at Park Terrace. Following a wine reception
enjoyed outdoors on a mellow spring evening,
the excitement kicked in as student servers
brought out the seven courses. More than
$3,500 was raised for the general scholarship
fund as well as scholarships for Culinary Arts
program students. Next spring the gourmet
dinner will take place on April 23.
On national Ride Your Bike to Work Day (May
15), Moraine Park employees joined in this
healthy and "green" method of transportation
while turning miles into money. Employees who
biked to work that day collected pledges based
on the number of miles they traveled, with
the proceeds of more than $1,350 going to
the Foundation. It was a win-win all around
good cardio exercise for employees, a little
less air pollution and gas consumption, and
more funding to help Moraine Park students
reach their college and career goals.
