different food events and programmes, what
do you find the most rewarding aspect about
your job?
There is nothing quite like demonstrating in
front of a live audience, and receiving the feed
back from spectators. Over the years, I have
learnt a lot from the people of Lincolnshire, and
I hope I have used my ability to my best.
What are the best tips for readers who want to
get the most out of local produce?
The most important thing is to buy food that
is as near to its original source as possible.
British food in season is packed with nutrients
that are often non-existent if a product has had
to travel thousands of miles. Also, nothing
tastes better than a vegetable that is in season.
As a nation, we seem to receive mixed
messages from the media about what is and is
not good for us. What advice would you offer?
In addition to the recommended five fruit and
veg a day, it is advisable to eat a mix of
cooked and raw foods for added nutrition.
Good quality meat should ideally be eaten
three times a week, which is essentially much
better then eating poorer quality meat every
day.
If you had to go to a desert island with three
ingredients, what would they be?
Oooh that is a tough one. I would have to
say Lincoln Red Beef, with asparagus and
roasted Chantenay carrots. Not forgetting
lashings of Mattison8217s horseradish sauce to
