BY EMMA MORLEYYOU don't have to travel miles to
find a memorable honeymoon
location.
In fact, we are lucky in having
somewhere closer to home that is
as stunning and idyllic as the top
destinations in the world.
So when Vicky Armstrong, 22,
and Steven Scurr, 24, from
Workington decided to take their
honeymoon in the Lake District
they knew they could expect
stunning scenery and a host of
activities to keep them and their
daughter Olivia entertained.
"We had never been camping
before and we had wanted to take
Olivia for ages," said Vicky. "She
was two when we got married so
this was just the right age.
"We didn't want to leave her and
we didn't think she would cope
with a long flight or hot August
temperatures.
"After the cost of the wedding we
thought that the best option would
be to stay in this country and the

nerves and excitement for
Karen Rhodes as her new
husband Andrew Reid
drove them to Manchester
Airport.
They had just been married and
in keeping with tradition, Andrew
wanted to surprise his bride by
choosing the honeymoon
destination and kept it a secret.
It wasn't until they were going
through security at the airport
that the location was revealed
and Karen was over the moon.
"I had been a bit nervous but
was also really excited," said
Karen, 32. "Andrew had planned to
tell me once we had gone through
security but the man on security
said that he hoped we would have a
great time because Vancouver is
fantastic. I couldn't believe it."
Karen, a nursery manager at
Upperby Primary School, was
thrilled.
She said: "I love killer whales
and have always wanted to see
them in the wild.
"Andrew took me to Norway for
my 30th birthday and we hoped to
see them there but we didn't so I
couldn't wait to see them in
Canada."
The first part of their two-and-a-
half week honeymoon was spent in
Sooke on Vancouver Island,
staying in self-catering
accommodation that had a balcony
and a hot tub. Andrew, a
veterinary surgeon at Capontree
Veterinary Centre in Brampton,
had planned three whale-watching
trips from nearby Victoria.
