International astronomers
haveconfirmedthepresence
of a black hole in our home
galaxy `The Milky Way'.
The threat of the black hole
existing in our galaxy has
everyone thinking will we
be destroyed.
Fears for our safety may
prompt us to ask:
Will this dark monstrous
beast suck us in and crush
us to death?
Orwillweliveformillions
of years before it takes its
hold of us?
Dr Massey of the Royal
Astronomical Society.
"Although we think that
black holes are somehow
threatening, in the sense
that if you get to close to
one you are in trouble,
they may have had a role
in helping galaxies to form
not just our one but others
as well."
"Theyhadaroleinbringing
matter together and if you
had a high enough density
of matter then you have
the conditions in which
stars forming. So the first
generation of stars and
galaxies could have come
in to existence."
Black holes are objects
whose gravity is so great nothing including light can
escape them.
The black hole is said to be 27,000 light years away
which doesn't seem far away does it but in fact it is
158,000,000,000,000 miles from Earth.

Our Milkyway
has a Big Hole!
Well, not quite,
and no, your
imagination has not
gone wild, however
we do have a black
hole in our galaxy.
The world is at an end... run
for your lives!
