Petronella
reveals what
she wants for

Petronella Vulpe
found love and a
new life in the UK
when she left her
home in Romania
in search of adventure.
The 21-year-old told ME: "I came
to the UK just over two years ago
from my home town of Constanta. I
wanted to have new experiences
and see other countries."
The plan was to sample the
sights and delights of the UK for 12
months before heading home to
finish her university studies.
But while working as a waitress
at the Walmar Hotel, Stirling,
Petronella laid eyes on Carlisle lad,
David Jones.
The couple got talking over the
coffee pot as Petronella served up
David's breakfast in the hotel.
"He is an IT manager and his
company pay for him to stay in the
hotel while he is working in
Scotland. I saw him every day
whilst I was having my dinner.
"I was finding myself attracted
to him and then one day, after last
Christmas, he started a
conversation. I guess it was love at
first sight and it's going great. He
is my best friend which is the most
important thing."
After one month, the pair moved
in together and now share a flat in
Carlisle's Denton Holme.
But during the week, Petronella
and David, 23, stay together at the
hotel where they first met.
"I've changed my plans about
going home because I met David.
He supports me and helps me a lot.
I feel very lucky to have met him.
Petronella, who is also a karate
expert and traditional Romanian
dancer, is hoping to start
university in the UK to continue
studying history and politics.
She loves Carlisle and finds
people friendly. "I like David's
mum and dad very much, they
make me very welcome. I do miss

my family. David and I will visit
Romania this summer."
Whilst the couple are not yet
engaged, Petronella said marriage
could be on the cards in the future.
And whilst she was chatting to
ME, David sent her a text to let her
know he was thinking about her.
Petronella said: "I did get a ring
this Christmas, but it's just a ring
and not an engagement ring!
"But I am sure about what I
want and so is he � that's why we
moved in together. I'm very
traditional and I think I'd like a
traditional-style wedding if I do it.
But I'd like to keep what we have
at the moment. I'm very happy."
