Entry Requirements
Apprentice NVQ 2:
A minimum of four GCSEs at
grades A - E, an NVQ Level 1,
Diploma Level 1 or
equivalent qualification.
Advanced Apprentice NVQ 3:
An NVQ 2 or other
equivalent qualification.
You are usually employed for 30
hours per week. You train both
in the workplace and at Furness
College. You will work towards a
National Vocational Qualification
(NVQ), Functional Skills and a
technical certificate.

Choose from one of the following:
USINGIT
Apprentice NVQ 2
Units studied may include: making
selective use of IT, operating a
computer, IT trouble shooting/
maintenance/security for users,
intranets and internets, email/
word processing/spreadsheet/
database/website, IT artwork and
imaging/presentation/bespoke
software and evaluating the impact
of IT. Functional Skills form part
of this qualification and will be
assessed at the relevant levels.

Units studied may include: making

your own effectiveness in the
IT environment, contributing to
improving customer use of IT,
contributing to the maintenance
of IT systems/installation of
hardware/installation of software/
provision of IT support/ software
system testing and website and
software development.
Advanced Apprentice NVQ 3
Units studied may include: ensuring
your own actions reduce risks to
health and safety, developing
your own effectiveness and
professionalism, improving the
effectiveness of customer use
of IT, installing hardware and
software, conducting system
testing, providing customers
with IT support, contributing to
the evaluation of products and
services, supporting the acquisition
of IT products; creating and
reviewing user documentation,
contributing to the development of
teams and individuals, and website
and software design.
