The best unsigned bands in the uk, and how to find them!
With all songs named after people
(Dan, Aimee, Josef), Mice are a
duo who seem pretty relaxed about
this music lark. Taking that searing,
defiant guitar sound that drives most
of PMP's favourite underground
bands, that a duo can achieve such
a full sound without bass is a credit
to this excellently off-kilter playing
style. The songs are pacey, chock-
full of time changes and are fed with
the Copper pot Journals style vocals.
All-in-all, a resounding success.

CALL THE DOCTOR
GALLERIES
Easier listening than everyone else here (hey
PMP has never been sniffy about pop music
alright?), Galleries alight upon glittering
melodies and floating aesthetics. Utilizing
falsetto, they craft occasionally sublime pop
material, and seem pretty committed to
forming their own stamp and then....errr....
stamping it upon impressionable people's
memories. They have a new EP forthcoming
all's left to do now is for people to hear it.
Named after the sorely missed
Sleater-Kinney's breakthrough
record, it's clear the effect those
departed American rockers have
had on Call The Doctor's striking
vocals and overdriven sound.
Simple, singular riffs hammer the
point home while Patti Hart spills
her words with dramatic vibrato
and cloud-hopping deftness.
