under spA HOST of awards have been
handed out to celebrate the ded-
icated work of young people in the
Cleator Moor and Frizington ar-
eas.
A total of 47 awards were pre-
sented to 42 young people who
attend Phoenix Youth Project,
with the categories ranging from
Duke of Edinburgh Awards, Food
Hygiene Certificates and sporting
accolades.
"This is a great achievement
and highlights the fantastic work
of many young people in Cleator
Moor and Frizington," said Paul
Rowe, youth development officer
at Phoenix.
Not all of the people to earn
awards could attend the event, but
those who did included Scott
Saunders, Charles Robertson and
Amy Hetherington who all col-
lected two awards.
Scott picked up the service sec-
tion of his Duke of Edinburgh
Award, along with a certificate for
a year's voluntary service.
Charles collected both his British
Alpine Ski Award and his Paddle
Power Passport for Canoeing
(both Level 1), while Amy also got
her Paddle Power along with her
Keyfund Local Youth Award cer-
tificate.
Paddle Powers also went to
Jamie King, Darren Little, Cather-
ine Dodgson and Reid Hodgson,
while Callum Rowe and Cheryl
