Charity begins at home
SSiirr,, In these challenging
social times, there is a
real need for people to
give back to their
communities. So I want
to thank your readers for
helping to raise over
12,000 for local
national and
international causes over
the last 12 months by
supporting fundraising
efforts of the Rotary
Club of Huntingdon.
Many people have a
misconception about
Rotary, and do not
realize the wealth of
humanitarian work for
which it is responsible.
The truth is that our
members are extremely
active people, who not
only raise much needed
funds for charitable
causes, but who have a
lot of fun whilst doing it.
We are always looking
for more business
people, professional
people and community
leaders of all ages,
including those who
have retired, both men
and women, to join us.
If your readers are
interested in meeting
new friends, using their
skills to help others or
trying out things they
would never normally
have thought of doing
please find out more

Bright spark could end Bonfire Night rite
SSiirr,, Every year at
this time kids
collect rubbish and
build bonfires, in
the same places
as each previous
year.
Someone lights
the fires and the
fire brigade are
called out to
extinguish them,
when they might
be needed
elsewhere saving
lives.
After this the
council send out
their men and
trucks to clean up
the mess.
Why do the
council not send
out their men and
trucks to clear up
the rubbish on
these bonfires
before they are set
alight?
It would save the
fire brigade
valuable time and
resources, also the
tax payers' money.
The only difference
is the rubbish
would be picked
up before it is set
ablaze and not
after.
