LincolnshireWest LindseyRich in farmland and arguably offering some of the
county8217s most breathtaking scenery, West Lindsey is not
only a gastronome8217s delight but is also heavily depended on
by the rest of Lincolnshire for its agricultural produce.
When it comes to food, West Lindsey has plenty of tales
to tell, with perhaps the most famous being Leanings
butchers based in Tealby, whose home made sausages were
referred to by HRH Prince Philip as the best he8217d ever had.
Then there8217s Blyton Ice Creams, which produces an
astonishing fifty different flavours including their famed
Christmas pudding flavour.
Thanks to the county8217s only racecourse in Market Rasen,
the district of West Lindsey has become a popular
destination for many in Lincolnshire too.
The recent opening of Robin Hood Airport just across the
border has also ensured that the area now becomes the
entry point to Lincolnshire for many visitors, including many
from much further afield.
The lush Lincolnshire countryside makes West Lindsey the
ideal location to venture around and discover some of the
county8217s most attractive restaurants 8211 almost all serving
quality Lincolnshire produce with their own unique twists.p.48-49:Layout 1 17/8/07 15:05 Page 1
