Entry Requirements
Four GCSEs at grade D or above or Salon Services and
a willingness to learn and be enthusiastic. Equivalent
qualifications and experience for adult learners.
Content
Units studied include: skin care, make-up, manicure
and pedicure, teamwork, hair removal, lash and brow
treatments, client care, health & safety and customer
services. Functional Skills form part of this qualification
and will be assessed at the relevant levels.
Progression
Students can progress on to NVQ 2 in Professional
Beauty Therapy, FEAL or employment assisting in
a salon.
Attendance
Full-time over one year.
Entry Requirements
FEAL
Four GCSEs grades A - D preferably in English and
science, or relevant experience and/or qualifications.
NVQ 2 Full-Time
Four GCSEs at grade D or above, an NVQ 1 in Beauty
Therapy or relevant experience and/or qualifications.
Flexible learning pathways can be applied to students
who wish to enrol on either course who do not have the
minimum requirements. Entry is by interview.
Content
Units studied include: ensure your own actions reduce
risks to health and safety, reception, eye treatments,
facials, make-up, manicure and pedicure. Functional
Skills form part of this qualification and will be assessed
at the relevant levels.
Progression
Students can progress on to full-time NVQ 3,
Apprentice NVQ 3 or FEAL NVQ 3.
Attendance
FEAL
Full-time over one year � two days at college plus
three days in paid, bursary work experience in a salon
where an assessor will visit you regularly. Help is given
by the College to find this work placement and a salon
interview will also be required.
NVQ 2 Full-Time
Full-time over one year � two and a half days at
college plus work experience in the Furness College
Studio Salon.
