Challenge: To redefine the studio work-
space to support an evolving work
process, generational dynamics, global
practice and stimulate creativity.
Solution: Reconfigure the studio environ-
ment through the development of a
creative collaborative zone that wraps the
building core providing continuous pin-
up and design display; relocate private
transparent offices to the short sides of
the space, while establishing a large
zone for personal workstations featuring
enhanced lighting and technology; create
a form and spatial rich environment to
stimulate design creativity with all aspects
of the project conceived and delivered to
achieve a LEED Silver certification.
Gold Award Winner
Carson Guest Inc.
Rita Carson Guest, FASID; Aaron Dwileski,
ASID; Phillip Jeffries, ASID; Crystal Aitken,
Allied Member ASID
Recognized for Weeks/Fuqua offices
Challenge: To make the space unusual,
not too serious, not too obvious and
have an edge. Costs had to be separated
between four companies and had to
be reasonable (client's definition) to
achieve objectives.
Solution: To be flexible enough to make
changes up to and after move-in as the
owner's business plan evolved. The
space was designed with environmen-
tally friendly products such as Larch.
Larch is easy to grow and reaches large
dimensions very quickly. It has a posi-
tive effect on the soil and landscape and
a high resistance to root rot. Larch is an
example of a wood that is rarely used
in the U.S., so meets the requirement
of being unusual, affordable and
environmentally friendly.
