Planning a trip to St Justinians
- an amble along the cliffs to
Porth Clais with a picnic at
Pen Dal Aderyn to watch the
porpoises? Maybe to catch the
boat for a reflective day on the
RSPB reserve of Ramsey? Or to
join a boat trip out into the
wildlife-rich coastal waters?
For many people St Justinians is a
powerful magnet. So, in season, it's a
busy place: stunningly beautiful,
remote yet accessible - and that's the problem.
The temptation, having arrived in St Davids by car, is to
drive on down the narrow winding lanes past walkers and
cyclists and take a chance on finding a space in the very
limited parking area. So if you'd prefer a hassle-free visit, use
the Celtic Coaster, part of Pembrokeshire Coastal Bus
Services. The service is provided by Pembrokeshire County
Council, with funding from the National Park Authority
through the Greenways Partnership. The Celtic Coaster is also
sponsored by boat tour operator Voyages of Discovery.
An hourly bus (9am to 5pm) runs from the National Park
car park in St Davids (by Oriel y Parc) from April 6th until
September 27th. In the summer holidays buses run every
15 minutes. Pick up a timetable from the Information Centre
(01437 720392), go to www.pembrokeshiregreenways.co.uk,
or ask your boat operator. Better still, hire a bike or walk (it's
about 4km) and burn calories instead of carbon.

St JustiniansSt Justinians
At Treheinif (near St Justinians Lifeboat Station) a permissive
path has been opened by the National Trust, providing a
new coastal route for walkers across farmland acquired and
improved through the Trust's Neptune Coastline Campaign.
The National Park Authority's National Trail Officer Dave
Maclachlan said: "This is a useful extension of access for the
public because it makes a lovely little circular route from the
Coast Path National Trail at Treheinif, on towards Rhosson on
the road and then onto the new permissive path around to
Porthselau, near Pencarnan."
