39It was definitely a trip of firsts
for us and we felt privileged to
see such amazing sights.
We took a trip to the
Monsopiad Village,which
commemorates the life of the
Kadazan warrior of the same
name.
He was 8211 literally 8211 a head
hunter,who kept his village safe
by claiming the lives of anyone
who tried to threaten it.
Skulls of those he beheaded
adorn a rather macabre hut in
the village,where Monsopiad8217s
direct descendents still live.The
best part of the day was the
demonstration of traditional
dances.
One in particular was amazing.
It is similar to the skipping game
Double Dutch,but uses long,
thick bamboo sticks on the floor,
with people at either end,each
holding two of the poles.
They bang the sticks together
while someone dances in
between,and the process gets
steadily faster and faster.4110148Beautiful
