W
elcome
to the
first
Culture of 2010.
As usual in the
North East we
have hit the
ground running
with plays, festivals, exhibitions
and concerts to keep us all
interested and entertained.
We have an innovation or two of
our own. Most obviously, Culture
welcomes Taste, a mouth-watering
magazine within a magazine.
Food and drink are integral to
culture by any definition and now
we are able to reflect that. My
colleague Katharine Capocci
introduces Taste on page 64.
We also have a page (50 this
month) dedicated to what we hope
will be your lively views and
opinions. Get in touch. Let us
know what you think so long as
it's not rude!
In The Journal a campaign has
been launched called The Case for
the North East, calling for the
distinctiveness of the region to be
recognised as the emphasis in
some areas of public life seems to
be falling on a sort of Greater
North, incorporating the North
West and Yorkshire.
Closer working relationships
with lively organisations across the
North can only benefit us, whether
in theatre or broadcasting, but we
believe the North East is special.
We hope you'll find evidence of
that inside.
