Dream prize
winner
THE winner of a romantic night
for two at Smiths hotel at Gretna
Green offered at the Live the
Dream wedding event in April
has been presented with her
prize.
The prize, which also includes
a three-course dinner in the
hotel's AA rosette-winning
restaurant, was won by Alison
McCubbin, from Stanwix in
Carlisle.
Her daughter Rachael collected
the prize on her behalf from
Michelle Hall, sales manager at
Smiths.
Alison won the luxury prize
after finding the winning image
of Smiths located at Carlisle
Racecourse, the venue of the
wedding event which was run by
The Cumberland News.

Roberts, the bride and groom's
friend, after the wedding breakfast.

The festival will then officially
open.
Rachel's friends Emma Sloan
and Julie Carson are busy putting
the finishing touches to her dress.
Rachel said: "They make a lot of
clothes and they offered straight
away to make my dress. They
have bought a dress for �100 from
America and are altering it.
"It is inspired by the wedding
dress in the Guns n' Roses
November Rain video. They are
also making the bridesmaid and
flower girl dresses."
Katherine Kyle, Rachel's best
friend, will be bridesmaid and
Brett's five-year-old daughter Ella
will be flower girl.
Rachel has bought a pair of
white wellies specially for the day.
Invitations have been sent out
to guests on a CD with all the
information guests need and as
there will be no official wedding
photographer, Rachel and Brett
are asking guests to take their
own photos and then put them on
the CD and send it back to them.
There will be 60 guests
attending the wedding and guests
will either be getting the special
bus to the wedding that the couple
have organised from Whitehaven
and coming for the day or staying
for the whole weekend. They have
been given permission to pitch
their tents on the Thursday night.
"I thought I would want a big
wedding but that didn't seem
right," said Rachel, who has an
eight-year-old son Dylan. "We will
be staying in the honeymoon
suite at Bower House after the
wedding.
"I can't wait, I am really excited
about the whole weekend. It is
also my 30th birthday on the
Sunday."
Following the wedding the
couple will be taking the children
to France for a holiday.
