AL� Celebrates 60 years with
Anniversary Front Loader in gold
In February 2009, it
will be 60 years since
Karl-Ragnar Astrom,
the founder of Alo,
registered the company
AB Alo-Maskiner and the
reputation and potential
for front loaders quickly
spread. The very same
year a small-scale
production started in
a small farm house in
Brannland, 12km west of
Umea and 700km north
of the Swedish capital
Stockholm.
Since then more than
500,000 front loaders
have been produced
by the company. Front
loaders are still being
produced on the very
same site where
everything started 60
years ago.
Today, Alo is the world-
leading manufacturer
of front loaders for
agricultural tractors and
manufacturers in a total
of five factories in three
European countries. The
products of the company
are sold via a network of
distributors in more than
40 countries. In 2008
the Alo group enjoyed a
record turnover of more
than SEK 1,900 million
(approx 200 MEUR)
and sold over 33,500
loaders. Approximately
600 people are employed
in eight countries and the
head office is still situated
in Umea, Sweden.
The 60th
anniversary
celebrations are timed to
coincide with the SIMA
exhibition in Paris 22nd
to
26th
of February 2009. To
celebrate this historical
event Alo AB will produce
60 specially designed
anniversary loaders in
a unique design with
parallel bar in golden
colour and the loader arm
in black colour. These
60 loaders will be sold to
distributors all over the
world during this year.
