Experience the
magic of Belsay
Made with more than 8,000
Swarovski crystals, the stunning
crystal horse sculpture designed
by Stella McCartney has returned
to Belsay Hall Castle and Gardens.
Visitors take a sensory journey
on a garden walk from the Hall to
the Castle to reach Stella's Lucky
Spot.
Glittering hoof prints can been
found in the ground, as well as
crystals hanging from the trees.
Visitors will know they're getting
closer to the horse when they hear
the sound of hooves echoing
around the Quarry Garden.
Belsay is a perfect summer
setting for a series of outdoor
theatre performances too. Popular
company Heartbreak Productions
are bringing As You Like It, Emma
and The Wind in the Willows to
Belsay, as well as a host of other
North East locations. For full
details and production information

Time travel
I
f you'd like your summer holidays to feature
abitoftimetravel,thenEnglishHeritagemay
be your new best friend. A host of historical
experiences are on offer at its properties all
over the North East... and parents will be thrilled
to hear that there are enough on-your-doorstep
days out to keep the whole family entertained
throughout the school holidays and beyond.
Crucially in these credit crunching times, they
won't break the bank, and they also offer the
chance for everyone to learn more than a little
something.
Here's a selection of highlights from the English
Heritage summer holidays stable.
Stella McCartney's Lucky
Spot, right, and, below, Wind
in the Willows and Emma.
The past is repeating itself all over the North East, thanks to the
efforts of English Heritage. Grace Scott provides a history-soaked
once around a few ideas for summer holiday fun.
