TOP of the range new cars will be lining
Canary Wharf's streets this June.
This year's car extravaganza,
Motorexpo, is set to take place from June
7 to 13 .
An event spokesman said: "Brands are
coming back to us year after year and it's
going to be bigger and better than previous
ones. We are now the only motor show on
in London."
Due to the economic downturn, the
British International Motor Show, which
would normally take place at the ExCeL in
July, has been cancelled.
However, sponsors and exhibiters are
still interested in coming to Motorexpo.
The list of cars on show has not been
finalised yet, but last year's event saw 16
cars making their debut in indoor and out-
door exhibits. There were more than 25
brands last year showing off their newest
offerings, from the Mercedes-Benz E-
Class to the BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo.
The spokeman added: "There are going
to be many more brands this year."

MOTORCYCLE experts
have got together in an
attempt to make biking
safer in London.
The London
Motorcycle Policy Unit,
which has been set up by
Transport for London,
working in partnership
with the Met Police, was
set up to reduce casual-
ties and attended last
weekend's MCN
Motorcycle show at the
ExCeL centre to promote
the safety scheme.
The 12 full-time police
officers, part of a special
Motorcycle Tasking
Team, ran training
sessions and carried out
on-street enforcement
checks to ensure that the
motorbikes on London's
streets are roadworthy
and legal.
Ben Plowden, director
of integrated programme
delivery at TfL, said:
"We are helping to
further reduce the num-
ber of motorcyclists who
are killed or seriously
injured by offering practi-
cal training and conduct-
ing an increased number
of roadside checks to
ensure that vehicles
remain roadworthy."
The training sessions,
known as `BikeSafe-
London' are one-day
practical courses and so
far 2,700 motorcyclists
have completed the
course since May 2008.

The Carole Nash MCN
Motorcycle Show had every-
thing on display from Vespas
to Moto Guzzis and exhib-
iters have reported that
despite the recent economic
slump, sales have exceeded
their expectations.
The event took place from
February 4 to 6 and this year
saw more than 35,000 visi-
tors turning up to see the
stalls, classic bike competi-
tions as well as live
presentations.
His first time per-
forming at the
event, world stunt champion
Mattie Griffin wowed crowds
with his indoor biking and
the UKFMX freestylers per-
formed, as they have in pre-
vious years, their signature
indoor backflip.
Alan Jones, Ducati press
manager, said: "The MCN
show always pulls in a great
crowd, and this year it's been
busier than ever. It's great to
be able to showcase the bikes
to the passionate British pub-
lic and see how excited the
bikes get them."
