www.georgetownrestaurants.co.ukThe Georgetown Restaurant, Britain8217s first
colonial Malaysian restaurant, is located at
the historic Dyson8217s Clock Building on
Briggate.
The Dyson8217s Clock Building is one of the city8217s
most prestigious landmarks and consequently a
listed building. The outside frontage is itself very
impressive (feeling that you are outside a
Victorian clockmakers is not unheard of) but
step through the poky door and you feel like
you8217ve stepped through a 8216TARDIS8217 as you are
hit by an exquisite colonial style ballroom and
live piano accompaniment.
Crystal cut glass and fine bone china line each
and every table and, compared to the modern,
bustling streets outside, you feel like you8217ve just
stepped into another world.
Given it8217s a listed building, little has been
altered in the restaurant8217s three year history
which is reflected in its sympathetic design.
Genuine and authentic artefacts line the walls,
coupled with glistening chandeliers and an
impressive glass ceiling centrepiece. The
restaurant lends itself perfectly for both intimate
dining and corporate functions, including
weddings, with room upstairs for parties of up
to eighty guests.
There are even more surprises when you
begin to peruse the menu. The Georgetown
Restaurant blends together cuisines of the
Malaysian Malays, Mandarin Chinese and Tamil
Indians all under one roof. Three diverse
cuisines mean you not only have to choose
what you want to eat, but which country you
want to dine from.
The food, together with efficient, friendly
service, is some of the best Leeds has to offer
and is a truly unique culinary experience.AT A GLANCE:Meals from: 16310.50
