ORDER
FORMA CHARITY golf bash at
Whitehill Golf Club in Dane End
raised a total of 163303 for
Thundridge Primary school.
Some 21 golfers turned out to
play in the 18-hole competition
and the club itself donated 163210
to the Friends of Thundridge
Primary.
The overall winner was Gary
Mangham, with Graham Alder as
runner-up, Alan Hussey in third
and Steve Elwell in fourth.
As well as prizes for the
winners, there was also a
mystery prize donated by Master
Craftsmen Kitchens, from
Enfield.
Amanda Stanley, a member of
Friends of Thundridge, said: 8220It
was a fantastic day, the course
was great and the weather was
brilliant 8211 everyone had a great

Herts will be travelling around 1,000
miles (1,609km) from France to Spain
in aid of an animal charity.
Ken Geggus, of Wood End, will be
journeying from St Malo to Barcelona
in support of Safe Haven for Donkeys
in the Holy Land (SHADH), which
looks out for the welfare of donkeys
in Israel and the Palestinian
territories.
The grandfather said: 8220My wife Jan
and I are animal lovers. We8217ve had
animals all our lives. My wife
subscribes to animal charities and
this is one of them.8221
Ken will be setting off on an old
mountain bike on June 17 and is
hoping to complete the challenge in
14 days, cycling 80 miles (129km) a
day, camping in a tent overnight.
He said: 8220I8217ve always been active.
About nine years ago my wife and
children bought me the bike and off I
went. I hop on a bike as often as I
can.8221
He has been on a few other cycling
trips, including Normandy to
Toulouse in France, a distance of
approximately 650 miles (1,046km).qTo sponsor Ken visit

took the lead to support a charity fun
day at Specsavers in Hertford.
The shop was raising money for
national charity Hearing Dogs for
Deaf People.
To help bring in the cash, local
hearing dog recipient Julie Parker
and Garfield the hearing dog joined
staff, who dressed in dog costumes
to complete the canine theme.
Hearing aid audiologist Derek Lawson
said: 8216This was the optical store8217s
sixth birthday, and all the staff were
really excited about celebrating this
milestone with such special guests.8221
To raise money for the charity, the
store ran a raffle with a pair of
hearing aids worth 1632,000 up for
grabs, and is donating 1632 to the
charity for every free hearing test
booked over the two weeks since
then.A UNIVERSITY
student from Ware
took a leap into the
unknown with a
bungee jump for
charity.
Zo235 Morey, 20, of
Tower Road, raised
163291 for Leukaemia
Research by
completing the
jump near Windsor.
She admitted: 8220It
was a very weird
feeling: I was really,
really nervous.
8220When I was up
there I didn8217t want
to do it. But before
you know it, it8217s
gone. From then it
was an amazing
feeling.8221
The jump was her
first ever 8211 but now
she says she hopes
to do another event
for charity 8211
although she does
not know yet what it
will be.
She wished to
thank all those who
