National Opera

HE English National Opera (ENO)
begins 2010 with a bel canto
Donizetti double of the Italian's
most dramatic opera, Lucia di
Lammermoor, and his heart-warming
romantic comedy The Elixir of Love.
Award-winning director David Alden's
electrifying production of Lucia di
Lammermoor returns to ENO's London
Coliseum stage following its critical
success in 2008. Conductor Antony
Walker leads a brilliant returning cast,
including Anna Christy, Clive Bayley
and Barry Banks.
For The Elixir of Love, director Jonathan
Miller returns to ENO following the
enduring successes of his previous
smash-hit productions, including The
Mikado, The Barber of Seville and,
more recently, his new rendering of La
Boh�me. Spanish conductor Pablo
Heras-Casado makes his British opera
debut with an exemplary cast including
John Tessier, Sarah Tynan and Andrew
Shore.
Lucia di Lammermoor runs until
February 26; tickets start from �20. The
Elixir of Love runs from February 12 to
