26 BLMGroup Gourmet & Good FoodGuide South Kesteven is the area most visitors to Lincolnshire
will alight on for the first time. It enjoys strong transport links
with the rest of the UK, which also makes it possible to
export much of the fine food it produces. Indeed, the
region8217s beautiful countryside is used to farm vegetables,
game and livestock, much of which stays in the region8217s
quality restaurants.
Despite this convenience, however, it remains one of the
most unspoilt parts of Lincolnshire. Stamford was named the
first ever Conservation Area in the UK in 1967, thanks to the
amazing amount of beautiful architecture and natural
wonders that exist in the town. There are over 600 listed
buildings within the town.
Grantham is the biggest town in the district and is said to
house the country8217s oldest inn, dating back to the thirteenth
century. There8217s much respect paid to the area8217s heritage,
but it isn8217t a museum and it still offers a huge number of
contemporary shops and eateries. The same is also true of
The Deepings, and it8217s obvious why many people choose to
base themselves in the area while working elsewhere, to
enjoy a better quality of life.South KestevenThe gateway to
