Our CSR statement
At Ernst & Young we understand that Corporate Social Responsibility
(CSR) is not just a positive trend, but an essential part of a successful
business culture. It is integral to our business operationally,
strategically and culturally.
Central to our CSR focus is celebrating, supporting and serving
entrepreneurship. This is done through our Entrepreneur Of The Year
programme which was founded on our commitment to promote an
entrepreneurial culture in Ireland. Through our programme our CSR
strategic objectives are built around acclaim and education.
Acclaim: To provide national and international recognition for Irish
entrepreneurs and their companies. To create profile opportunities
for valuable role models, who, in turn, foster enterprise in Ireland
in the long term. Over the past eleven years the Ernst & Young
Entrepreneur Of The Year
programme has brought the due acclaim
to entrepreneurs and entrepreneurship in Ireland. Each year, from
a growing pool of over 100 entries, 24 finalists are selected across
three categories, International, Industry and Emerging. A televised
award ceremony is held each year when a winner is announced in each
category with one singularly honoured with the overall Entrepreneur
Of The Year award. The exposure from this ceremony, coupled with
strong profiling in other media and the instant access to a strong
community of entrepreneurs through our strategic programme of
events, has opened many new business channels and inspired others
to engage in entrepreneurial activity.
Education: To provide new learning opportunities for the
entrepreneurial community and engage and inspire the next business
generation. As a knowledge organisation, education and sharing
knowledge is core to our efforts. Our annual CEO Retreat pushes
boundaries in thought leadership and offers entrepreneurs access to
leading business thinkers from globally renowned business schools. In
the past two years the programme has been built around the strategic
value of CSR and our groups engaged in a series of CSR strategy
sessions coupled with a three-day stay in a compound in Haiti where
the entrepreneurs were set the task to build sustainable enterprises to
help local communities. This has resulted in many of the entrepreneurs
implementing socially responsible strategies at the core of their own
businesses. Our executive education programme extends to facilitating
Industry Forums offering a unique platform to discuss and debate, with
key players, issues facing respective industries.
Extending our message to second and third level students is of
paramount importance to us which continues with our objective to
promote a positive entrepreneurial culture in Ireland. Over the past
few years we have distributed a ground-breaking DVD series to schools
in our effort to promote and encourage entrepreneurship amongst
Ireland's future business generation. In 2008 the EOY programme took
the multi-learning tools to the next level through the development
of an online TV channel bringing our visual case study offerings to a
wider audience www.eoy.tv
Ernst & Young is constantly advancing the importance of excellent
corporate citizenship in our practices, our policies and in our global
promotion of CSR.
