alk through history in this beautiful, varied, and age-
old part of Scotland. From the sublime scenery of The
Trossachs to the rugged and stunning landscapes and
island-scapes of Argyll, this is a place for walkers to savour.
There are many attractions and walking-wise there's something
for everyone here, with lofty Munro and Corbett peaks,
spectacular woodland trails and some of the finest loch-shore
trails in the world.
Around the city of Stirling, and environs, there are a multitude
of walks where one can really feel the hand of history. Follow the
back walk around Stirling Castle to reach Gowan Hill and the old
beheading stone where those unlucky enough to meet their fate
would have had a last look towards Ben Lomond and other hills
that grace the horizon. The present castle, which dates mainly
from the late 15th century, was pivotal to the control of Central
West Highlands
