Bill Tallentire and his part-
ner Pat Richardson, own
and run Quality Cleaning
and Contracting Limited.
One of their major con-
tracts is for the Whitehaven
Harbour authorities. A
task they have undertaken
for approximately seven-
teen years. A team of six
including Bill and Pat are
responsible for the mam-
moth job of keeping all of
the harbour area , including
the North and West piers,
plus six large car parks and
a ten floor multi storey park
in pristine condition.
Bill informed me,"We used
to have a vehicle that was
able to complete the work
in hand with several re-
strictions, however Pat on a
visit to Rickerbys, with the
assistance of a very helpful
sales team and on site dem-
onstration realised the full
potential of the Megatruck
that was on display."
Pat continues"We now have
a vehicle that can access ar-
eas that previously were un-
available to us. The carry-
ing capacity of the vehicle
with the ability to work up
to ten hour days, seven days
a week with complete reli-
ability meets our require-
ments. A further benefit is
that the Megatruck has re-
duced the usage of diesel by
approximately 30%, this is
a major consideration with
todays fuel prices.
Bill continues,"We find
the Megatruck every bit
as good as a small lorry, it
is easy to drive and handle
and has an adequate carry-
ing capacity, several of the
jobs it undertakes are litter
collection and transfer to
static containers as well as
transportation of tools and
equipment around this very
large site. During the Sum-
mer it transports grounds
maintenance equipment to
tend our grassed areas
and shrubbery's. Win-
tertime it tows grit/salt
spreading machinery
to required areas, it is
also transported via the
use of a trailer to vari-
ous other contract sites
throughout Cumbria
where Quality Cleaning
and Contracting Limited
have a responsiblility.
Once again thanks to
Rickerby's wr now have
a vehicle whose versatil-
ity knows no bounds.
