The engine in the popular Cushman
Turf-Truckster utility vehicle has been
upgraded to a 25hp Kubota 3-cylinder
diesel engine as part of an ongoing drive
to add value, quality and functionality to
all Jacobsen equipment. It will also ensure
that the Turf-Truckster will fully comply
with new Tier 4 Environmental Protection
Agency (EPA) standards in the USA.
"The new diesel engine for the Turf-
Truckster is more environmentally
conscious and will provide customers with
more torque, more comfortable operation,
and reduced noise," said Manuel Ruiz,
Ransomes Jacobsen's Product Manager.
"The Truckster features the industry's
highest payload and is among the most
versatile and most productive machines on
the market. This switch to newer, improved
diesel engines will allow them to perform
at an even higher level for our customers."
The new Kubota engines operate at a
lower sound level, have almost 8 percent
more torque in the mid-range (where
most typical use occurs), and feature an
increased cooling capacity that results
in more efficient engine operation and a
lower operating temperature.
Several additional improvements and
upgrades have also been incorporated:
 Tougher, and stronger axle tubes
Improved axle tube sealing at the wheel
bearing ends
Zinc plating on the side air screens to
improve corrosion resistance
 Dash panel instrumentation more
vibration resistant
 Improved weather resistance and long
term reliability
"We are committed to providing turf
maintenance professionals with premier
turf equipment of the highest quality,"
added Manuel Ruiz. "These upgrades to
the Turf-Truckster will result in more
capable machines and better all-around
performance."

TrimTek deck technology also available for
Jacobsen AR5
Ransomes Jacobsen has introduced the
Jacobsen AR522 fine cut rotary mower.
Specifically designed for maintaining
greens and tees surrounds and
intermediate areas of rough, this five-deck
rotary replaces the current Jacobsen
AR5. It couples the improved class-
leading performance of the AR5 with new
TrimTekTM cutting decks that were first
used on the Jacobsen AR3 triplex rotary.
The design of the new TrimTekTM deck
features an exclusive downdraft blade that
keeps the clippings suspended longer for
exceptional mulching results. Exclusive
three-tiered discharge openings
distribute clippings more evenly for
a superior after-cut appearance. The
volume of each individual deck has been
increased by 26% allowing the AR522 to
cut in the most severe conditions. Using
a single spanner, the decks can be easily
converted from discharge to mulch in
minutes.
It also boasts class leading traction
capability with on-demand control
from the operator and features more
horsepower per width of cut than any
mower in its class. Coupled with the new
improved decks and climbing system,
the AR522 is built to cut in conditions
that other machines just cannot handle.
To ensure that users of the Jacobsen AR5
can take advantage of the new TrimDek
technology, retrofit kits are now available.
Utilising the existing motors, frame and
castor wheels these kits will ensure that
the AR5 can maintain the finest possible
cut over difficult terrain.
NEW JACOBSEN AR522 FINE CUT ROTARY
MOWER WITH TRIMTEK CUTTING DECKS
RANSOMES JACOBSEN has launched a new
out-front rotary mower, the Iseki SFH240,
which comes with a choice of 1.22 metre
(48") or 1.37 metre (54") rear discharge
cutting decks.
The new machine is powered by a 16.1 kW
(24hp), three-cylinder, liquid cooled diesel
engine operating at 2600rpm resulting
in reduced noise levels. The collecting
system features a high dump hopper
with a clearance height of 1900mm and
an offset of 750mm, which provides easy
access when depositing the cut grass into
waste skips and bins.
The cutting deck is a derivative of the
successful mowing unit from the Iseki SXG
range providing a superb finish, even in
heavy or wet conditions. Two shaft-driven
blades, powered from a pto operating at
a speed of 2000 rpm, ensure that the cut
grass is collected from the centre of the
deck and blown directly into the 550 litre
hydraulically-operated high-lift hopper.
Two large castor wheels help the deck
cope with undulating terrain and two rear
rollers help prevent scalping.
The step-through operator platform is
wide and flat with a rubber mat insert
to dampen noise. The narrow steering
column allows good visibility to front-
mounted implements. The design of the
internal collection system makes for a
neat exterior and all controls and levers
are readily at hand on either side of the
fully adjustable suspension seat. Operator
comfort includes cruise control, power
steering and automatic four-wheel drive.
The 30 litre fuel tank, with electric fuel
indicator as standard, provides plenty of
operational capacity at speeds of up to 15
km/h (9.3 mph). Costing 14,400 with the
1.22 metre cutting deck, the SFH240 is
competitively priced and is sure to appeal
to landscape and professional grounds
care contractors.
RANSOMES JACOBSEN INTRODUCE
NEW ISEKI SFH240 OUT-FRONT ROTARY MOWER
Newcastle United Football Club's Head
Groundsman Mick Curran has returned to
his local RANSOMES JACOBSEN dealer,
Rickerby Ltd, and added three new
mowers and a compact tractor to his fleet
of turf maintenance equipment at the
Premiership club's training centre on the
northern outskirts of the city. RANSOMES
JACOBSEN is a Textron Inc. (NYSE: TXT)
company.
Three Jacobsen LF3800 five cylinder
ride-on mowers, one with grass boxes,
have been purchased to mow the training
pitches together with an Iseki TG5470
compact tractor, which will be used
for general duties around the training
complex.
"I've had LF3800s previously and they
are excellent mowers, perfect for
our requirements here," said Mick,
who heads a team of eight grounds
staff responsible for maintaining the
13 full size pitches set within the 90
acre facility. "I chose the Iseki tractor
because I've had an older model, which
was easy to use, easy to maintain and
thoroughly reliable. Add this to the
excellent service from Rickerby's and I saw
no reason to change.
"Earlier this season we became the first
football club in the country to have
Mansfield Sand's Fibrelastic turf pitches at
both the stadium and training ground and
the players love it. They incorporate small
elastic fibres in the top 100mm of the
rootzone which is similar to a typical fibre
reinforced, sand rootzone but it's more
player friendly because of the reduced
hardness and extra resilience of the
surface. The performance of the LF3800s
is still excellent on these new surfaces."
Meanwhile down at the St James' Park
stadium, Deputy Head Groundsman
Andrew Tulley has taken delivery of
Ransomes Matador walk-behind mower
with a special 9-blade cutting cylinder for
match-day pitch preparation.
"I was previously using a Ransomes Mastiff,
but have switched to the Matador as it's
lighter and will help reduce compaction.
I've got it set a 27mm and it gives us a
`bowling green' type finish, which the boss
and players really appreciate," he added.
