HILE the summer may be over,
there is no need for your 2009
golfing days to come to an end -
particularly with the number of
great deals available at equally great golf
courses up and down the country.
Playing golf in winter need not mean going it alone,
there is plenty of time left this year for you and your
buddies to make a quick golfing getaway as near, or as
far away, as you so desire.
For the quintessential English parkland experience
there's no place better to pack up your clubs and get off
to than Ashton & Lea Golf Club. Set in the beautiful
countryside on the outskirts of Preston, just at the border
of the new Millennium Ribble Link, the course offers a
welcome retreat from hectic everyday life. A very popular
course with visitors, it's challenging - evidenced by the
fact that it has regularly hosted Lancashire Golf Union
events - without being overbearing at 6,300 yards.

within which it sits. Bounded by the Severn Estuary, the
course meanders through a complex network of natural
waterways, many of which come into play and should be

opened in 1990, Peterstone Lakes is also home to a
stunning and modern clubhouse where your group of
enthusiastic but weary golfers will be happy to relax on
completion of an enjoyable round.
Located on Bradnor Hill in beautiful Herefordshire,
Kington Golf Club occupies a proud position as being the
highest golfing venue in England. Designed by Major
Cecil Key Hutchinson, who helped James Braid set out
Carnoustie and Gleneagles, the course has a distinctive
links-like feel, which makes it something of a rarity in the
area and ensures that it remains on full greens and in
great condition even in the winter months.
For over a century Brecon Golf Club has been offering
a great challenge to visitors who come to put themselves
to the test over its fine parkland course. Albeit only nine
