THE Wildfowl & Wetlands
Trust (WWT) is a leading UK
conservation organisation
saving wetlands for wildlife
and people across the world.
Founded in 1946 by the naturalist and
artist, the late Sir Peter Scott, WWT
aims to bring people and wildlife togeth-
er.
WWT Welney is an internationally
important reserve. Every season is a
new experience.
In spring the reserve alive with the
sound of bird song and later with young
ducklings and chicks taking their first
steps on the lagoons.
Visit in summer and see dragonflies,
butterflies, moths, water voles and wild-
flowers. Experience the unique opportu-
nity to walk in the heart of the Ouse
Washes.
In winter the reserve is a haven for
thousands of wild swans see

The eco-friendly visitor cen-
tre houses the interactive
Fenland Worlds discovery
area, educational Pond Room,

EVENTS
Throughout the year, the
Welney Wetland Centre runs a
packed events programme.
Every school holiday and
weekend throughout the year
there is an interactive family
trail to follow as well as activi-
ties in the underwater world of
the Pond Room , including
daily pond-dipping over the
summer holidays.
Highlights in the events cal-
endar in 2009 include the
Easter Arts weekend, April 10th
- 13th, where you can make
rubbish Easter bonnets from
recycled materials.
Don t miss a Fen Tiger s Tale
on Sunday, May 31st, where
the old Fen characters and tra-
ditions are brought into the
present day.
WWT Welney also runs a
variety of wildlife and art work-
shops for all the family includ-
ing Bats and Barn Owls and
Festival of Swans.
