The Merck SeQuant HILIC Days represent
a forum for discussing and learning
about hydrophilic interaction liquid
chromatography (HILIC). The meetings
comprise a mix of basic fundamentals,
an explanation of the underlying the
chromatographic theory, tips and tricks for
method development, troubleshooting,
applications and workshops.
The first of these meetings was held in Marl,
Germany, in September 2005 and over the
last four years there has been a continuous
end-user driven demand for similar meetings
in other countries.
During the HILIC Day and advanced
HILIC user meeting participants will learn
the use and advantages of hydrophilic

interaction chromatography HILIC. This
chromatographic technology offers the
unique possibility of separating polar or
hydrophilic substances (e.g., nucleotides,
amino acids, amines, phenols, acids,
peptides, carbohydrates, glucoronated and
glycosylated compounds, phosphorylated
analytes etc.) with simple and mainly LC/
MS-compatible buffer systems. In addition,
further applications for HILIC will be
presented and alternative solutions for
separation of highly polar compounds will
be discussed.
In 2009, five events are organized by
Merck SeQuant in Europe, Asia and North
America. To learn more about these HILIC
days click here.
