The central belt is also well-served with the newly
extended Carron Valley centre, near Stirling, plus a range
of easy family routes at Loch Ard, near Aberfoyle. The
more experienced rider will find delights at the Fire Tower
Trail by Lochgilphead a little further south.
While some people will come to Scotland to focus on
mountain biking, others might want to dip in and out of
various activities during their holiday, and thanks to the
geographical spread and accessibility of the mountain
bike centres, the opportunities are limitless. Whether
you're looking for just a few hours of riding or two weeks,
you'll find what you're looking for in Scotland.
If you're more experienced and can map read then
there are many opportunities to get off the beaten track
on a mountain bike. From the Pentland Hills, near
Edinburgh, and Gleniffer Braes, near Paisley, to the isles
of Skye and Harris, the country boasts some of the
world's very best natural single-track trails.
