Marks & Sparks celebrates 125th
anniversary with hospital fundraiser

HOPPERS from across West
Cumbria have been queuing
up to help celebrate Marks &
Spencer's 125th year
anniversary and raise money for the
West Cumberland Hospital.
Two hundred people queued from
7.50am on May 20, the first day of a
commemorative penny bazaar, to buy
1p items in aid of the Hensingham
hospital.
Each customer was allowed to
choose five items from a selection of
20 including knickers, jewellery,
mugs, ties and scarves. Customers
could either pay one penny per item
or make a donation.
