COMMUNITY INFORMATION POINTS IN YOUR VILLAGE
The Borough Council of King's Lynn & West Norfolk has established a network of Community
Information Points (CIP's) in villages around the Borough, enabling more people to access Council
information and services via the Internet, completely free of charge!
The Borough Council works in partnership with organisations in the local community, such as Parish
Councils, Information Centres, Schools, Post Offices and even Public Houses to enable Community
Information Points. The local organisations provide a volunteer and a venue for the Point, whilst the
Borough Council provides the equipment, ongoing Broadband costs and training for the volunteer.
The creation of the Community Information Points offers citizens an alternative method of contacting
the Borough Council locally, which can save time, travel or telephone expense.
Here are just a few of the services available on our comprehensive website:
Pay bills online, e.g. Council Tax or Business Rates
Access information on all Council Services
Complete and submit online forms
Download and print leaflets and forms
Apply, view and comment on planning applications
View and bid for properties for West Norfolk Homechoice
You can also access other websites such as Norfolk County Council, or renew your car tax online.
Just ask the volunteer to show you how!

SPORTS DEVELOPMENT
Let's Get Active is the current message from
the Borough Council as we strive to improve
people's health and wellbeing through activity
and sport. The Let's Get Active campaign has
seen more sporting opportunities offered
throughout the borough and many of them
are available to villages.
WN Inter Village Games 28th
June
Just ONE team can enter the event from a village
now thanks to new rules. So if one football team
or one netball team or one badminton pair etc
wants to enter from a village then that's ok. Of
course a village can try to enter as many of the
17 events on offer as they want- that's ok too!
Adults and young people can enter and events
range from Mini Soccer, 5-a-side Football, Netball
and Bowls to Badminton, Table Tennis, Cricket
and Darts. The day is a real festival of sport and
great fun for everyone. Deadline for entries is
29th May. More details at
www.intervillagegames.co.uk
Village Sport 2009
This is a scheme to offer summer holiday sports
courses to villages. 12 villages staged courses for
young people last year. Does your village want to
be part of the Lets Get Active Village Sport
scheme this summer?
Village Sports Coordinators (VSCs)
Working with the West Norfolk Sports Council, 13 VSCs are now appointed in villages
to encourage activity. Expenses of up to 300 a year are available for these posts. VSCs
are `Champions for Sport' in their village and their contribution varies from helping to
bring village sport courses to their village, helping to raise Inter Village Games teams
or perhaps helping to bring in grass roots funding such as Awards for All grants to
assist with village facilities. Interested in being a champion for sport for your village?
Village Roadshows
The West Norfolk Sports Council obtained funding to run sports roadshows across the
borough last year and they have done so again for 2009. This year's programme is so
far looking like this:
The roadshows are free of charge taster and have-a-go sessions including various sports and they
proved very popular in all villages last year. Watch out for more details if you live in one of the lucky
villages. Any village interested in the free date? More information is available from Paul Brandon 01553
768719 or email wn-sportscouncil@1rkw.rlshost.net

Rural Sports Coach
Kate Davies is the Borough Council's Rural Community Sports Coach, funded via Sport England
grants. She is working hard in villages to help more people take part in sport. Her work to date has
taken her to villages all over the borough to run coaching sessions and link more school children with
sports clubs, organise Beginners Running Courses for Women, set up Netball clubs and run holiday
sport courses for young people in villages such as Feltwell, the Rudhams and Walpole Highway. Can
Kate help your village?
Loan of Equipment
If you want to see an activity get off the ground in your village perhaps we can lend you the
equipment to get started. Recently Sedgeford Village Hall loaned table tennis equipment to start the
activity and this has led to a weekly, self sufficient table tennis club for adults and young people in
the village. A badminton club has been created in West Winch following a loan of equipment and
over the years numerous carpet and short mat bowls clubs have been formed following loans of
equipment from the Borough Council. All kinds of sporting equipment is available, usually for 6
month loans and free of charge!
