Blackborough End,
Fair Green and Tower
End are popular
places for many peo-
ple to live, despite the
proximity of the busy
A47 road.
While the road provides
rapid access to the towns of
Lynn and Swaffham, the fact
that it goes through the middle
of Middleton means an ever-
increasing flow of traffic for
villagers to endure.
Folk in Middleton have been
calling for a bypass for more
years than many of them
would care to remember -- and
who can blame them, when
you see the benefits a bypass
has brought to Narborough,
just down the road?
For residents with close rela-
tives on opposite sides of the
A47, and there are plenty of
them, crossing backwards and
forwards during the day can be
tedious and time-consuming,
and without the barrier of the
main road, the community
would be even more close-knit.
Despite the road problems,
Middleton has many plusses
PENTNEY is a village with a long
history -- it was mentioned in the
Domesday Book -- and in the
1970s a hoard of six silver
brooches, dated to the late 8th or
early 9th Century, was found
there.
Like nearby Narborough, it has
a number of businesses located
in a lovely rural setting.
