LINCOLNSHIRE TODAY89DINING OUTLife in the village of Ewerby has, for
over a hundred years, revolved around
The Finch Hatton Arms. The village,
just outside Sleaford, is a popular place
for walkers and cyclists to base
themselves when visiting the county,
and Terry and Dot Cowdry offer a
warm welcome for all their guests.
The Finch Hatton Arms was
originally built in 1875, and since
then it8217s been hugely popular with
visitors and locals alike. The Cowdrys
continue to innovate and make sure
that it features everything you8217d
expect from a modern restaurant.
Diners can eat in two beautiful
restaurants. The Finch Restaurant,
which seats 34 in an elegant
chandeliered setting, combines the
quality of formal dining with a hugely
relaxed setting. Meanwhile the Gallery
Restaurant has undergone a
refurbishment and seats up to sixty
people. The Finch Hatton8217s role in the
local community is illustrated again
here with artwork from Lincolnshire
artists on display.
When we visited the Finch
Hatton Arms, we took our
seats in the Finch Restaurant
and made our selections from
the Fine Dining menu. This
changes every three weeks, but
whenever you visit, you can be assured
exceptional quality.
As you8217d expect, great strides are
taken to ensure that the produce is
sourced locally wherever possible.
Hence for the main course, my
companion enjoyed the Tournedos
Rossini 8211 a generous Lincoln Red fillet,
served on a crouton of pate and red
wine reduction, and served with Jenga
chips. I opted for the roasted
tenderloin of pork, serviced with a
honey and cracked black pepper sauce.
Both of the dishes were wonderfully
presented and absolutely delicious.
The Fine Dining menu reflects the
highest standards, but the Finch
Hatton Arms is proud of its food, and
whether you choose from the FineThe Finch
Hatton ArmsDining, Favourites or Bar menus there8217s
bound to be something you8217ll enjoy.
Visitors to the Finch Hatton Arms
this summer will also be the first to
take advantage of the venue8217s new
garden. Previously only a private
garden it is now open to all and
should prove to be a hugely popular
location during the warmer months.
In addition, two guests can enjoy a
three course meal from the Fine
Dining menu, plus a double room, on
Friday to Sunday evenings, for just
163100 including breakfast.
