buffet. Evidently, some of our American
cousins tried to prove this headline false,
and as they waddle or scooter into the
restaurants, you can sense the panic in
the kitchen staff as workmen standby to
lay scaffolding around the unlucky chosen
seat. But, when food is this good, cheap
and abundant you have to sympathise
and view the elastic waistband as an
essential piece of any wardrobe.
After all this food you need some
exercise and if the fantastic gymnasiums
and Spas aren8217t for you, simply walking
from hotel to hotel along the Strip will
burn off a few of those unwanted calories.
Whilst the portrayed image of Vegas is
non stop gambling, there is so much more
to do and see for all the family. Within
the strip hotels you have mini theme
parks and thrill rides including a
rollercoaster around the Manhattan
skyline at New York New York, or the
world8217s highest rollercoaster at the
Stratosphere. Circus Circus has non stop
circus acts whilst at Treasure Island you
can view the free spectacular show, Sirens
of Ti, where two life size galleons with
pirates and glamorous Sirens battle and
fall in love four times a night - it8217s good to
reminisce! Another great free show is the
Fountains at the Bellagio which, if you
time right, can be viewed from the Eiffel
Tower across the road at the Paris Hotel.
Alternatively, why not romance your lover
amongst a tropical rainforest with white
tigers, dolphins and volcano at the
Mirage, followed by a proposal on a
Gondola at the Venetian, our favourite
hotel, before a wedding on board the
Enterprise at the Star Trek Experience at
the Hilton.
For a bit more culture or activity, there
are impressive art collections and
museums or even half or full day trips via
helicopter, plane or coach to the Hoover
Dam and the Grand Canyon. Despite
being in the middle of the Nevada desert,
there are championship quality golf
courses including the Badlands Golf Club
carved through canyons and the Bears
Best Golf Club with replicas of Jack
Nicklaus8217s favourite holes.
Golf widows though should not worry
as Vegas offers arguably the best shopping
in the world to rival anything offered by
LA, Paris or New York. With shops to meet
anyone8217s budget, the brand victims flock
to what is billed as the Shopping Wonder
of the World, the Forum Shops at Caesars
Palace. Here the likes of Versace, Armani,
La Croix and Dior line the streets of a
traditional ancient Roman town and my
partner tried to fully embrace the
experience by crucifying my credit card.
The equally impressive Venetian hotel lets
you shop along the Grand Canal before
lunch in a replica of St Marks Square. For56
