break or he probably
would8217ve warned us of
crowds, mad bunnies
and american teenagers!Spring Break USA is the two to three
week period when American
teenagers let their hair down and get
noisy, drunk and sexually rampant; and
that8217s just the girls.
In fact, every American from eighteen
to seventy years old, capable of walking
(when sober) and with money to burn,
seemed to want a piece of the action.
Apart from this time of year, when you
are most likely to see the Easter Bunny
nursing the mother of all hangovers,
there8217s rarely been a better time to visit
Vegas.
Normally the number of available
rooms in Vegas outstrips demand, but to
get the best value and avoid queuing our
advice is steer well clear of religious
holidays, spring break, world poker
tournaments and 8216conventions8217.
Anyway, my wife and I had booked our
annual trip away from the kids, flights
and four nights accommodation at the
Luxor Hotel for 1631,000. With the dollar so
weak we then upgraded to a suite the size
of a modest terrace house for a mere 16325 a
night.
The Luxor is a glass pyramid that sends
a beacon of light into the sky that, along
with the Great Wall of China, can be
viewed from space. The Egyptian theme
continues with a large Sphinx in front of
the hotel 8211 inside there are life size
replicas of the great Temple of Rameses II
and the Tomb and Museum of
Tutankhamen. In Egypt, however you
would be confronted with hordes of street
vendors peddling exotic spices and luxury
silks 8211 in Vegas, you are confronted with
an army of electronic slot machines
tempting you with their flashing lights set
in their 120,000 square foot casino, with
countless gaming tables.
All the major hotels here have world
class restaurants, and off the Strip you will
find more, far more than any other resort
in the world can offer. Should you get
