Management
Opportunities
(Europe-wide)
Salary DOE
A global consultancy wishes to bolster its
management compliment outside of London.
Although the practice has offices throughout
Europe the main hubs of the European
Actuarial Services (EAS) are France,
Switzerland, Germany, Italy and the UK. Apart
from increasing the avenues for building
lucrative long-lasting client relationships it
gives EAS the opportunity to work closely
across multi-disciplined teams with other
practices such as risk management
and regulatory.
The main focus will be on asset management,
capital and risk, financial reporting, growth,
reserving and audit, transactions and
transformation. Within these disciplines they
are able to provide a seamless, consistent,
high quality client service within diverse
industry sectors. Much of the work that is
developed with clients locally can be rolled
out through Europe, further allowing its
consultants to gain a solid overview of
national and multinational clients. The
business has a very open culture with fluid
project teams to offer as much depth as
possible to both clients and consultants,
whilst continually developing their
intellectual capacity.
The business has developed strong
relationships across Europe, further
strengthening their reputation and becoming
the consultancy of choice. This has been very
successful and with continued investment to
drive the business forward they continue to
leverage on the relationships that have been
built to date. With plans to aggressively
expand the group, they seek people who are
able to play an active role in growing
the business.

Non Life Pricing Actuary
(London, UK)
Up to 70k
Sitting within a team of eight including two
administration staff, your main functions will
be to assist with ad hoc projects and case
pricing. Focus is on significant pieces of
business or those that are particularly
complicated, including projects that are
commissioned by the underwriters where the
structures are developed from scratch or
using existing principles and bringing them up
to speed. Clients for case pricing include,
Underwriters for specific business lines,
Business Managers for internal sales and
relationship leaders with responsibility for
particularly large clients.
Project work is largely driven by the UK based
underwriters. The UK business is responsible
for creating and enhancing practices and then
rolling these out into the European and
international business units, namely Zurich
and Chicago. In a varied environment, the
team aims to have each individual involved in
all aspects of the work. Depending on the
experience of the person joining the team, the
responsibility in the first instance may vary,
though the aim will be to move quickly into a
support role and then a lead position on
the projects.
Working with the front office staff to convey
complex issues, communication skills and the
ability to work in balance with the underwriters
and to take a subjective viewpoint are key
attributes within the role. Ideally, pricing
experience within the London markets is
sought, however, time and training will be
given to those from other non-life disciplines
who show the enthusiasm to diversify their
skills base.
