Although correctly named the Autumn EDITIONS and published
in September, the contents are, of course, prepared during the
Summer. Therefore, it was during July that most of the interviews
were conducted and the articles written.
July is always a busy month, with many of our international clientele
`on the coast', major charters starting all over the Mediterranean
and in New England and sales deals closing. All that was
happening this year plus the final negotiations and `closing' of the
two largest contracts for Yachting Partners International during the
last week of July (both strictly confidential until September after
publication of this EDITIONS!) followed closely by the delivery of the
ISA 480 Alexandar V, on 31st
July (I promised myself many times
that we would not sign another contract for July delivery, but when
both client and yard insist... what can we simple brokers say?).
Yachting Partners has really had a great start to the year and
although we are all very aware of the world-wide financial turmoil
and why should yachting be immune? we have seen only a slight slow down in new enquiries; surprisingly
combined with a massive increase in actual business! Of course, we are well prepared for a possible crisis we have
seen the ebb and flow of the business cycle in yachting too many times over the past 36 years to be complacent
however, for the time being, our long-standing clients seem to be well enough protected, if not immune!
During the past 12 months, the `new' Monaco office has settled into an efficient working division concentrating
on Sales and New Construction under the new `divisional' brand YPI Brokerage; the Charter Department has
been developed into its own division, including both Charter Retail and Charter Marketing, under YPI Charter
and the Yacht Management Department has grown into YPI Yacht Management. YPI Crew of course retains its
identity and distinctive character with a growing reputation and share of the market.
Hopefully the articles in Autumn EDITIONS will give you a good insight into the workings and inherent values of
each of these closely related Divisions with specialists who work hard to ensure you, our Clients, continue to enjoy
a seamless service.
Additionally we now have an in-house Marketing Team in place to enhance Yachting Partners' communication
power for the benefit of our Owners and to promote their yachts more effectively across the media. A face-lift
of our website with easier search facilities and navigation, new e-newsletters and online EDITIONS are ready with
much more to follow.
We also look forward to welcoming you on our newly designed stand at the Monaco Yacht Show from 24th
to 27th
September 2008.
Please note, our Stand (N QT47) has moved back to our previous location on the T-Jetty in the centre of the
harbour, to the left where you access the large yachts. We are here to make your visit to the show as efficient
as possible, so if you need any assistance for transport from the airport or from your hotel please do contact us.
Scheduled and pre-booked visits on the yachts that interest you most are also possible and the earlier you let us
know the yachts you wish to see the better...
I am looking forward to telling you at the Monaco Yacht Show all about those `deals' we signed in July!
And if you have read this all the way to the end... thank you!
